Separation anxiety is when a child becomes upset, worried, or fearful when they are separated from their parent or main caregiver. It is very common in young children, especially between 8 months and 4 years old, and often shows up when a child starts daycare or school. Common signs include: Crying or clinging when a parent leaves Refusing to go to school or daycare Complaining of stomachaches or headaches when separation is coming Wanting constant reassurance that the parent will return Why it happens: Children feel safest with their caregivers. When that person leaves, the child may not yet fully understand that the parent will come back, which causes fear or stress. How parents can help: Keep goodbye routines short and calm Be consistent with drop-off times Reassure the child that you will return Help them build trust with teachers and caregivers .

Behavior issues in children occur when a child has difficulty managing their emotions, actions, or reactions in certain situations. This may include behaviors such as tantrums, hitting, refusing instructions, excessive crying, or difficulty sharing and cooperating with others. These behaviors are often part of normal development as children are learning how to communicate, regulate emotions, and interact socially. Behavior challenges can also happen when children feel frustrated, tired, overwhelmed, or unable to express their needs clearly. With consistent guidance, patience, and positive reinforcement, children can learn appropriate ways to express their feelings, follow directions, and build healthy social skills. Support from parents, teachers, and caregivers plays an important role in helping children develop self-control, confidence, and positive behavior habits.
