Spirit’s Heart was founded in 2012 by Angela Childress with a vision to create a community center that would teach children to be well-rounded individuals. Angela’s goal was for every child, especially those in inner-city communities, to have the confidence to engage in meaningful conversations with anyone, anywhere. She envisioned a space where children would be exposed to a wide range of subjects, helping them develop a broader understanding of the world around them.

It wasn’t until October 2019 that Angela was able to bring her vision to life by opening a childcare center.

Angela, an Ohio native, holds a Bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship and a Master’s degree in Management. Along the way, she devoted herself to volunteering and educating herself about child development. Her passion for working with children was ignited in 2010 when she gave birth to her daughter, Spirit. At just 18 months old, Spirit was diagnosed with a hearing impairment, and doctors told Angela that her daughter would never speak. Determined not to accept this prognosis, Angela made a promise to herself that Spirit would thrive, and she would become an advocate for children with hearing impairments.

Witnessing her daughter embrace life despite her challenges, Angela’s heart was opened in ways she had never imagined. She became committed to raising awareness about deafness and supporting the needs of children with disabilities. From that day forward, Angela, along with her three daughters, embraced their roles as an extension of God's hand—walking in His authority to teach, serve, and provide a high-quality curriculum that focuses on nurturing the whole child—physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
